Tres Leches Milk

Tres Leches Milk

About the Recipe

The recipe for the milk mixture used in a Tres Leches cake is a simple combination of three key ingredients: sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and whole milk or heavy cream. The objective of this mixture is to create a rich, sweet, and creamy liquid that permeates a light sponge cake, resulting in the dessert’s distinctive moist texture and flavor. Tres leches is a sponge cake that is soaked in a combination of three milks—typically whole milk, sweetened condensed milk, and evaporated milk.
The origin of tres leches cake is subject to debate: some assert that it originates from Nicaragua, while others posit that it is from Mexico. Regardless of its birthplace, the dessert rapidly gained popularity throughout Latin America. Numerous recipes deviate from the traditional recipe by experimenting with alternative milks or incorporating mix-ins such as chocolate or pumpkin spice (we even have a recipe for tres leches tiramisu).
