Homemade Pistou (Pesto Nut Free)

Homemade Pistou (Pesto Nut Free)

About the Recipe

Say "bonjour" to Homemade Pistou (Pesto Nut Free), the vibrant, nut-free basil sauce from the sun-drenched region of Provence, France. This spirited green sauce is a celebration of summer, transforming humble ingredients into a culinary sensation that embodies freshness and simplicity. With its vivid green hue and aromatic perfume of basil and garlic, it brings instant life to any dish.

Pistou is perfect for drizzling over pasta, swirling into soups, or spreading onto crusty bread. Its versatility makes it a staple for quick weeknight meals or elegant gatherings. Unlike traditional pesto, this version skips the nuts entirely, keeping the focus on the bright, clean flavors of basil, sharp Romano or Parmesan cheese, and smooth olive oil.

Making it couldn’t be easier: simply blend fragrant basil leaves, chopped garlic, and grated cheese with just enough olive oil to reach your desired texture. In less than a minute, you’ll have a luscious, garlicky, herbaceous condiment that tastes like summer in a spoonful. Keep some on hand to instantly elevate roasted vegetables, grilled meats, or even a simple omelet.

With Homemade Pistou, you can skip the tedious prep and embrace pure flavor in every bite. It’s a small taste of Provence, ready to brighten any meal with a fresh and nut-free twist.
